Meet Pastor John
Pastor John “Johnboy” Boyanowski is a Rhode Island native who moved to Indiana in 1991 with his family: beloved wife Marsha (married for 39 years), daughters April and LeeAnn, and son Joshua. Pastor John has been working in the church setting since he was 14 years old in some compacity. There was a time when he took “a vacation” from the church due to church politics. Once in Indiana, God reminded Pastor John of his calling and he came back to serving God, thanks to the late Rev. Jack Scott. Since that time, Pastor John began his studies and journey with the loving support of his wife Marsha. Pastor John then attended Taylor University Fort Wayne and graduated with a degree in Pastoral Ministry and Pastoral Counseling.
Pastor John began pastoring in 2001 at Pleasant Lake UMC and pastored there for 21 years before God called him and Marsha to minister at Solid Rock Church. Both Pastor John and Marsha know that their calling to Solid Rock Church has been a blessing to all involved. From the very start, God’s hand could be seen in the ministries of the church and in the people of Solid Rock. Pastor John and Marsha were empowered to utilize their gifts and talents for serving God in the way they felt God led them to serve.
Marsha teaches Bible study, serves in several ministries, and leads the Hallelujah Hands Choir, a choir that uses American Sign Language (ASL) and signs the music. Marsha is also passionate about working with the Bread of Life Food Pantry, missions, and supporting pastor John in his ministries. For fun, Marsha loves crafting (card making, scrapbooking, etc.), gardening, reading, music, fellowshipping, and, of course, time with the kids and grandkids. Marsha is also a graduate of Taylor University Fort Wayne with a degree in Pastoral Ministries and Missions.
Pastor John has a passion for the youth and works with the youth leaders in their ministries. Pastor John also is passionate about reaching those who struggle in various ways, who might be broken, or lost their way. He has worked in the mental health field for decades and has assisted others to rise above their circumstances with the guidance of God. He also writes a column about faith for The Herald Republican paper and has written several books that he is currently attempting to publish.
Pastor John is a huge geek when it comes to superheroes, movies, music, and other geeky stuff. He also enjoys the Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers, cooking and grilling/smoking, photography, nature, writing, and time with Marsha and his family.
